With the Warm Weather Operations course, you will learn to describe the characteristics of warm weather that can cause aircraft accidents and incidents, identify the ways to avoid hazardous warm weather phenomena, and be able to explain various products such as charts and satellite images that aid in anticipating hazardous warm weather occurrences. The course covers the following:
- Definition of rain showers, thunderstorms, hurricanes, typhoons, cyclones, tropical storms, sandstorms, duststorms and dustdevils
- Conditions for the formation of warm weather events in both middle and tropical latitudes
- Worldwide criteria used to classify convective weather as severe or non-severe
- Flight hazards at low and high altitudes associated with convective weather and tropical weather systems
- The ways the flight hazards affect an air traffic system
- Convective and tropical weather analysis and forecast products which are available on a worldwide bases
- The way to effectively use the weather analysis and forecast products to help ensure a safe flight in a warm weather environment
- Examination
