When choosing a training provider, factors like price, availability, and reputation can influence your decision. FlightSafety International (FSI) encourages you to ask these important questions to ensure you maximize your investment. At the end of the day, do you want your crew to simply be proficient—or prepared for anything?

DOES YOUR TRAINING EXCEED REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS?
Most training providers ensure their clients are proficient and can pass regulatory requirements. At FSI, we push beyond that and prepare aviation professionals for the industry’s most challenging scenarios. With instructors dedicated to clients’ success, a data-backed curriculum, and state-of-the-art devices, our training isn’t just good enough. It is truly the best.

HOW DO YOU ENHANCE PASSENGER SAFETY?
There is no shortcut to success. While some training providers focus on getting clients in and out as quickly as possible, FSI chooses to work closely with our clients and ensure they know exactly how to safely navigate any situation. This level of expertise assures passengers that they are in the hands of the industry’s most elite aviation professionals.

HOW ACCESSIBLE ARE YOUR INSTRUCTORS?
Technical questions can occur once a training event ends, which means having the ability to reach an instructor outside the classroom is essential. FlightSafety instructors pride themselves on being the “go-to” for their clients—a resource aviation professionals can contact whenever necessary, even after they’ve completed their program. This level of professionalism and expertise punctuates the “safety first, safety always” ethos we’re known for.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU WORKED WITH THE AIRCRAFT MANUFACTURER?
Elite training is possible only when the training provider and the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) work in partnership to develop comprehensive courseware and devices that precisely replicate an aircraft’s intricacies. For example, Gulfstream named FSI the authorized training provider for the G650. Thanks to the trust our companies have built over our 50+-year relationship—and the close proximity of our Savannah facilities—we collaborated to create exceptional pilot, maintenance, and cabin attendant training curricula. By the time the G650 was certified, we had already gone through the trial-and-error process, with training in place on day one to ensure safe operation of the aircraft. We continue to work with them to ensure any updates they make to their aircraft are reflected in our training devices.

WHAT TYPES OF TRAINING DO YOU OFFER?
Training providers who are truly committed to the industry offer a comprehensive curriculum, including initial, recurrent, advanced, and specialty training. FSI meets our customers’ full needs through training for pilots, maintenance technicians, cabin attendants, and schedulers/dispatchers. In total, we offer more than 3,000 courses, each meticulously designed to elevate aviation safety. This includes targeted programs like specialty runway approach training, cold and warm weather operations, and international procedures.

CAN I GET THE TRAINING SLOT I NEED?
As the industry recovers from an instructor shortage, training seats are becoming more available. FlightSafety has enhanced our scheduling methodologies, which has dramatically increased our capacity.

HOW DO YOU INVEST IN YOUR CUSTOMERS’ SUCCESS?
Our mission to advance aviation safety can only be accomplished when we train professionals to the highest standards. In addition to core training, we have developed industry-recognized, Master-level training for pilots and maintenance professionals, and are soon introducing this premier certification for cabin attendants. Not only do these advanced programs equip our clients with the skills to be among the most elite professionals in their field, but they also are a powerful tool flight operations can use to attract, develop, and retain the best talent.

HOW ARE YOUR SIMULATORS MAINTAINED?
Full-flight simulators are built to last decades—which means they will, at some point, need avionics updates. FSI is committed to ensuring our devices replicate the aircraft our clients fly, so we invest in upgraded avionics packages and other technology as the OEMs upgrade. In addition, we take great care to maintain our simulators’ interior surfaces. Each device goes through an arduous audit process to ensure the leather and carpet are consistently prepared for the next training event.

HOW DO YOU PREPARE CLIENTS FOR THE SIMULATOR?
To get the most value out of your training program, you need to be smart about where training is conducted. Going straight to a full-flight simulator isn’t necessarily what’s needed, or even in your best interests. FSI invests heavily in our procedure trainers to ensure that clients know exactly what to do—before they even set foot inside a simulator.

WHAT INVESTMENTS DO YOU MAKE IN TECHNOLOGY?
All training providers continuously invest in technology. The difference lies in where those investments go. FSI backs the type of ground-breaking tech that will advance aviation safety. One example of this is our partnership with GE Digital. By leveraging their data analytics platform, we’re able to compare training data from our simulators to real-world scenarios and better prepare pilots for industry threats like runway excursions and loss of control in-flight.
