Three years later Learjet embraced the same kind of arrangement we had with Falcon, making
FlightSafety pilot and maintenance technician training a part of the purchase price of
every aircraft they sold. And soon other manufacturers designated us as their official
training company as well. Gulfstream, Sabre, JetStar and Jet Commander were among the
earliest. That was the start of a very exciting growth period for our little training
company.
In the beginning we had housed our simulators on the first floor of our headquarters
building at LaGuardia. But as different manufacturers designated us as their official
training company, we agreed to build dedicated training centers at or adjacent to their
factories and service centers. That way, pilots could train as their aircraft were being
built or serviced. They would also have ready access to the people most familiar with their
airplanes -the people who designed and built them.
